Agenda Aug 23-24

Principles of IT

Goal:  I can use a programming language to code a series of steps.

Activities:

  1. Finish Code Monkey through Challenge 30 (show Dr. Miller) 
  2. Create your own program in Scratch:
    1. Click "Join Scratch" to sign up for a free account using your school info.
    2. Click here to watch an introductory video.
    3. Create your first project where the cat will turn colors and play a sound whenever he is clicked.
  3. Brainstorm with partner advanced programming commands
  4. Create/Finish Coding Board Game layout
  5. Begin Coding Board Game directions

Programming 1

Goal:  I can use a programming language to code a series of steps.

Activities:
  1. Finish Code Monkey through Challenge 30 and
  2. Create your own program in Scratch
    1. Click "Join Scratch" to sign up for a free account using your school info.
    2. Click here to watch an introductory video.
    3. Create your first project where the cat will turn colors and play a sound whenever he is clicked.
    4. Create a game (also on video page). This counts as a test grade.
  3. Online IT Class:
    1. Go to learn.edgenuity.com
    2. Log in like this:
    3. Password is your school password
    4. Find Principles of IT  (although it says "non_credit," you will be receiving a grade for each quiz and project).

Digital Media

Goal:  I can use digital resources to create a portfolio to show my learning progress.

Activities:

  1. Create a blog (click here for link to blogger.com) using your school email account and school information.
  • After clicking the link, sign in with your school email account and school information.
  • You may choose any design except "dynamic."
  • Title your blog:  Your first name, last initial's Digital Media Learning Blog
    • Example:  Linda M's Learning Blog
2.  For your first post, write a few sentences about who you are (without using any names or identifiers), age, grade, and how you will be using this blog.
  • Example:
  • My name is Linda Miller and I am a high school junior.  I will be using this blog to document my learning in Digital Media.
3.  For your second post, take a screenshot of your blog and upload it.  Write 2-3 sentences about the process of creating the blog.

  • Example:
  • Today I created a blog to document my learning process.  To create the blog, I had to decide on a name and a design.  The process was somewhat confusing because there were a lot of details.

4.  Brainstorm with partner activities to fulfill the TEKS for Digital Media.
